Frequently asked questions
Datalastic connects through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Add our server URL as a custom connector in Claude, sign in with your Datalastic account, and ask away. Claude pulls live vessel data straight from our API in the background.
You get AIS vessel tracking for any AI assistant you're already using: ask Claude to look up a vessel's live position by MMSI or IMO, find all ships within a radius of a location, pull historical track data, check port and ETA info, and more. All in plain language, with Claude handling the API calls behind the scenes.
You'll need an active Datalastic subscription, which comes with an API key. But you never have to copy or paste it. When you connect through Claude, you sign in with your account directly and your key stays securely on our servers, never exposed in the app.
Datalastic uses credit-based plans starting around €99/month, with each successful API call deducting credits from your monthly allowance (failed calls aren't charged). Plans range from light usage to unlimited high-volume access, and a 14-day free trial is available. See our pricing page for current plan details.
Yes. Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at any time from your account dashboard. You can also email support@datalastic.com and we will handle it within 24 hours.
No. Only successful calls that return data are charged. Errors, not-found responses, and rate-limit blocks do not deduct credits from your monthly allocation.
Your plan includes overuse protection: when your monthly credit allocation is exhausted, further requests are automatically blocked until the next billing cycle resets your balance. You will never be billed for overages.
